The Passing of a Prophet of God

"Be not faithless, but believing. Believe in yourselves. Believe in your capacity to do some good in this world. God sent us here for a purpose, and that was to improve the world in which we live. The wonderful thing is that we can do it."
-----President Gordon B. Hinckley
Most of you who know me know that this is my all time favorite social work quote. JR and I were filled with sadness at news of our prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley's passing tonight. However, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has had a spectacular reunion with his eternal companion, Marjorie Pay Hinckley (another social worker at heart), and with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his Heavenly Parents. I love this quote not only because it is beautiful, but also because as with everything President Hinckley said, he exemplified it perfectly. We will truly miss his sweet sense of humor, his inspiring example, and his genuine love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life and look for its opportunities, and forever and always be loyal to the Church."
---- President Gordon B. Hinckley

Women and Self-Nurturing
On Tuesday nights I attend a Women's Group and my sweet friend Elise babysits for me. One of the topics we have discussed a lot recently is self-nurturing. I think as wives and mothers we often neglect our own nurturing as we focus on the nurturing of our families. The group leader talked a lot about how journaling can be a very soothing activity. So I decided to do more journaling on both my blog and my personal journal as a self-nurturing activity. I really enjoy gathering literature bits or quotes for my journal and I enjoy creating lists or entries that may help Haley (and future children) know me better. So if you are wondering why some of my future blog posts are random, that is why. I am just adding literature bits and thoughts or lists that I enjoy for my journal.

Sentimental Spotlight
This is a picture of Haley sleeping at JR's parents' house in the very same crib that JR and his siblings slept in. Isn't that sweet? I think it is so cool that not too long ago JR slept in that very crib and was her size. I think it is neat how the circle of life comes back around. JR's dad was saying that he remembers JR's blessing day and that it was really impactful to be in the blessing circle while JR blessed his own child.
