The Passing of a Prophet of God

"Be not faithless, but believing. Believe in yourselves. Believe in your capacity to do some good in this world. God sent us here for a purpose, and that was to improve the world in which we live. The wonderful thing is that we can do it."
-----President Gordon B. Hinckley

Most of you who know me know that this is my all time favorite social work quote. JR and I were filled with sadness at news of our prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley's passing tonight. However, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has had a spectacular reunion with his eternal companion, Marjorie Pay Hinckley (another social worker at heart), and with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his Heavenly Parents. I love this quote not only because it is beautiful, but also because as with everything President Hinckley said, he exemplified it perfectly. We will truly miss his sweet sense of humor, his inspiring example, and his genuine love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life and look for its opportunities, and forever and always be loyal to the Church."
---- President Gordon B. Hinckley

Amazing dedication post.
I couldn't have said it any better.
Thank you for the quotes- I'm balling my eyes out right now!
He will be missed.

It really is so sad, he is my favorite prophet. Probably because I'm old enough to appreciate the prophet now, whereas before he was prophet I was pretty young. I agree with everything you said. My favorite quote from him is "In all of living, have much fun and laughter, life is to be enjoyed, not just endured." I think he always was an example of having fun while being incredibly busy. On the news I couldn't believe all that he has accomplished since he had become the prophet. You're right though, it's so great that he gets to go meet his wife, he's missed her so much. Thanks for your post! Leave it to my Brynn to write what alot of us were feeling last night!

Hey I tried to call you today, but no answer, I'm sure you were busy with school, work, whatever... but Jace and I want to go to the St. George parade of homes, it starts on the 15th of Feb. do you and JR want to go? I figure if you're moving there, we need to get something there too! Even if it is a once a month thing. Let me know. Saturday was so fun by the way- we need to do it more often. Love to see you and loved seeing Haley, my chunky little monkey.

I love that quote too. What beautiful words. I will also miss his adorable little humor and his Christ-like attributes. He will always be a significant role-model in my life. Thanks for the post.
